Markets are won in the layer nobody writes down.
Most market-entry advice starts from the organisational chart, which tells you who holds which title. It leaves out who decides, whose call gets returned, and which two directors worked together twenty years ago and have taken each other’s side ever since.
Structure, from records
The starting point is a dataset of the organisations in a sector and the people who run them, built around career trajectories rather than current positions: where each person has worked, in what role, alongside whom, educated where.
Trajectories expose the informal structure. Two executives who overlapped at the same firm in 1998 take each other’s calls in 2026, and that appears on no org chart.
Verification
Every record is verified by hand before it enters the analysis. Names appear under several spellings. Titles overstate authority, and in some markets that is the norm rather than the exception. Organisations merge, rename and are acquired between the date of the source and the date you read it. Two records that look like different people are one person; two that look identical are not.
Unverified data produces a network that is wrong in plausible ways, which is worse than no map at all.
Automated collection, including AI tools, is improving and Komno uses it. Machines are good at extraction at volume. Entity resolution, and knowing which discrepancy matters, is judgement, and it is not delegated.
Reality, from people
The map is a hypothesis. It is tested by making contact.
Most of what determines an outcome lies in what people tell you once they trust you: who is respected, who is on the way out, which relationship is load-bearing, which two organisations cannot be in the same room. None of it is written down, and none of it is offered to someone who arrives with a pitch.
Where the details do not reconcile, they are verified against an independent source, such as a consulate, a chamber of commerce, an industry body, or a known contact, before any action is taken. Where a decision is material, action requires confirmation from at least two independent sources.
Analysis
Network analysis is carried out in ORA and UCINET, the standard packages for measuring centrality, brokerage and cohesion in social and organisational networks. You receive the underlying dataset, the network maps and a written briefing on what the structure means for your decision.
The boundary
Komno works in its own name and on the record.
The work draws on open sources, standard commercial business-contact tools and direct professional engagement. The analysis covers organisations and roles: professional positions, corporate structures, ownership chains and published career histories.
Komno does not misrepresent who it is or why it is asking, does not collect information covertly and does not gather data on anyone’s personal life.
Contractual, liability and insurance exposure that affects your position is raised before signature, while it can still be changed. Komno does not sign on a client’s behalf, and the decision remains yours.
